Falling prices
After rising again two weeks ago, prices are falling (on 19 October, raw sugar was trading at 520 $/t and white
sugar at 603 $/t for short settlement dates). On 30 October, raw sugar was commanding a price of 488 $/t (330
€/t) for January 2010 selling dates whilst a tonne of white sugar was going for 580 $/t (391 €/t) for December
selling dates.
On the currency market, the dollar rebounded slightly against the main foreign currencies after hitting 1.50 on
22 and 23 October. The euro is currently trading at 1.48 $ (P.8).
